Exciting research alert! A new study explored how

Exciting research alert! A new study explored how repetitive acute intermittent hypoxia (AIH) affects muscle performance during fatiguing contractions. AIH is an intervention where individuals receive controlled doses of low oxygen to excite the nervous system. Findings suggest AIH may promote motor recovery after SCI.

As the year winds down, we are also winding down the ASPIRE upper extremity study using ANEUVO's ExaStim unit. This study examined the use of transcutaneous spinal stimulation combined with traditional therapy to restore motor function in individuals with cervical level spinal cord injuries. The randomized controlled trial included 24 days of intensive therapy over the course of 8 weeks. Thank you to all of our participants for your time, hard work, and dedication to furthering SCI research!

Congratulations to the team at @onwdempowered on receiving FDA de novo classification and authorization to market the ARC-EX® System, a non-invasive spinal stimulation device for individuals with chronic SCI. We are proud to have contributed to the testing of this device and to see years of hard work come to fruition.

Thank you to everyone who came to vote at our annual INSPIRE Lab cookie competition! It was great to welcome new and old friends to the lab. Without further ado, the results: Prettiest cookie went to "Letters to Santa" by Stella! It was a close race for tastiest, with a tie between the Samoa and Cranberry White Chocolate Cookie by Noah and Angela, respectively. Congrats to our winners!

Wrapping up 2024 with our last BO2ST assessment of the year. Shout out to all of our amazing participants -- during the study, you collectively walked 413,862 steps this year!! BO2ST is an ongoing study looking at the effects of intermittent hypoxia and spinal stimulation on walking speed and endurance.
